The National Identification and Registration Authority, widely known as NIRA, has issued a critical public alert to all Ugandans. The authority is cautioning citizens against engaging with fraudulent online platforms and unauthorized middlemen who are falsely claiming to offer ‘express’ services for National Identification Cards. NIRA emphasizes that these deceptive offers are nothing more than elaborate scams. These illicit operations are specifically designed with the malicious intent to steal money from unsuspecting individuals and to illicitly acquire sensitive personal information, which can then be exploited for various fraudulent activities, including identity theft. Ugandans are strongly advised to disregard such offers and rely solely on official NIRA channels for all National ID related services.
