In a significant development from the chambers of the August House, Parliament has officially passed The Protection of the Sovereignty Bill, 2026, following a series of critical amendments. This legislative milestone represents a pivotal advancement in the ongoing evolution of Uganda’s national governance framework. Following this successful parliamentary session, the finalized Bill is now slated to be formally forwarded to the desk of His Excellency, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The President is expected to review the document for his presidential assent, a necessary constitutional procedure that must be completed before the Bill can be enacted into law.
