President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially addressed the public regarding the significant administrative changes he implemented within the national carrier, Uganda Airlines, earlier this calendar year. This marks the very first instance that the Head of State has provided commentary on the strategic restructuring process that has been a major subject of national discourse since the developments were first announced to the citizenry. The President’s remarks serve to clarify the rationale behind the high-level adjustments made to the airline’s management structure, which are intended to bolster the operational efficiency and professional standing of the country’s flagship aviation entity on the international stage. During the month of February, the national carrier underwent a profound leadership transition when the former Chief Executive Officer, Jenifer Bamuturaki, was officially relieved of her professional duties and responsibilities at the helm of the organization. Following her departure, the airline moved swiftly to appoint a seasoned successor to steer the company forward, officially replacing her with the highly experienced Ethiopian aviation executive, Girma Wake. This appointment of Mr. Wake is widely viewed as a pivotal move aimed at leveraging his extensive expertise to navigate the complex challenges currently facing the aviation industry while ensuring the continued growth and stability of Uganda Airlines.
