Ms. Olivia Lutaaya, a prominent and vocal supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP) political party, has once again been remanded into custody. This latest legal development sees Ms. Lutaaya facing fresh allegations, specifically concerning unlawful drilling activities. This marks a repeated instance of legal challenges for the NUP activist, who previously endured a significantly lengthy period on remand. She had spent nearly four years under military custody, facing very serious treason charges before her earlier release. The current remand order, therefore, places Ms. Lutaaya back in detention, with the new focus of the charges being the alleged unlawful drilling activities, as investigations continue into the matter.
