Good morning, listeners. The Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations have officially commenced across the nation, marking a significant milestone for thousands of students pursuing higher education. This year’s UACE exams are witnessing a record participation, with an unprecedented 166,402 candidates registered to sit for the papers. This figure represents a substantial increase from the 141,996 candidates who participated in the 2024 examinations, underscoring a consistent upward trend in advanced secondary education enrollment across Uganda. In light of these escalating numbers, educational institutions nationwide are intensifying their appeal to the government. Schools are specifically urging authorities to allocate and provide more comprehensive resources dedicated to the teaching of science subjects. This urgent request stems from two critical and interconnected factors: the continuous rise in student enrollment, which places considerable strain on existing infrastructure and teaching staff, and the persistently high cost associated with acquiring essential laboratory materials and equipment. The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) continues to oversee these crucial examinations, as schools advocate for enhanced support to ensure the delivery of quality science education for all students.
