The government of Uganda has officially announced that the highly anticipated national celebrations for this year’s Heroes’ Day will be conducted through a virtual platform. The commemorative event is scheduled to take place at the State House in Entebbe, rather than at a public venue as has been the traditional practice in previous years. Providing further clarification on this significant development, the Minister for the Presidency, Honorable Milly Babalanda, addressed members of the press corps during a briefing held in Kampala. Minister Babalanda emphasized that this strategic decision to shift to a virtual format was reached by the authorities in a proactive bid to curb and prevent the further spread of the Ebola virus across the country. By opting for this digital approach, the government aims to ensure the safety of all citizens while still honoring the nation’s heroes during these challenging times.
