In a significant address delivered to the public, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has issued a passionate and timely call for all Ugandans to actively take pride in their unique cultural identities. The Katikkiro emphasized that the preservation of our heritage is essential for national development and personal dignity. Furthermore, he issued a stern warning regarding the ongoing reliance on colonial-era narratives, noting that these outdated perspectives have significantly undermined the spirit of African unity. According to Mr. Mayiga, clinging to these historical frameworks continues to hinder the growth of genuine self-awareness among the people of the continent, and he urged citizens to look inward to reclaim their true cultural roots.
